Vineyards, Venues and Vows Part 2

More and more we see the demand for wedding venues in the Central Coast Wine Country of California. This is a great opportunity for many vineyards not only to enhance their wines but an additional revenue stream to build upon.

In my first article I discussed many important factors when it comes to selecting and outdoor venue site, for example, what time of year and what time of day are considerations that need to be thought through. Most weddings take place between March and October. As to the time of day, the earlier in the year, the earlier the ceremony should take place. Early afternoon is best in-between the hours of 2 and 4pm. Come summer months, early evening time, around 5 or 6pm.

The greatest factor being in "the Central Coast" is the "Wine Country" aspect. We all know that Wine Country is inland and come summertime, it heat's up. Keeping guests from roasting in the sun can be an issue and presently with most sites the only option is to put up free standing umbrellas that may only shade some areas but keep in mind they also make for unsightly wedding photographs.

Being a Plant Health Care Consultant/Landscape Designer and working with past clients that were in the business of hosting weddings I decided to design a Pergola structure that can accommodate any event.

I worked with a local General Contractor and together we can up with the above design. Paying attention to detail, no hardware would be seen, utilizing only the best materials on the market along with faux painted marble columns giving it a touch of elegance.

This pergola is just one example and I offer to any vineyard venue a complimentary walk-through and design consultation if you are interested in taking your venue to the next level. While I visit you, we can also discuss the general landscape itself if you so choose, which in itself is a whole other topic saved for another day.
